Novel mechanism of a charge density wave in a transition metal dichalcogenide.

چکیده
The charge density wave (CDW) is usually associated with Fermi surfaces nesting. We here report a new CDW mechanism discovered in a 2H-structured transition metal dichalcogenide, where the two essential ingredients of the CDW are realized in very anomalous ways due to the strong-coupling nature of the electronic structure. Namely, the CDW gap is only partially open, and charge density wave vector match is fulfilled through participation of states of the large Fermi patch, while the straight Fermi surface sections have secondary or negligible contributions.

The main function purpose of nanobiosensors is to sense a biologically specific material and the kind of sensing platform and doping engineering has been an emerging topic and plays an important role in monolayer molybdenum disulfide (mMoS2). In this paper, we theoretically reveal the electronic structures of mMoS2 doped by 3d transition metals. Furthermore, adsorption of nucleic acid [Adenine ...
متن کاملarge density waves in 1T-TaS2: an angle-resolved photoemission study
The transition metal dichalcogenide 1T-TaS2 is a layered material exhibiting charge density waves. Based on angleresolved photoemission experiments mapping spectral weight at the Fermi surface and density functional theory calculations we discuss possible mechanisms involved with the creation of charge density waves. At first the flat parts of the elliptically shaped Fermi surface appear to pla...
متن کاملNanoscale manipulation of the Mott insulating state coupled to charge order in 1T-TaS2
The controllability over strongly correlated electronic states promises unique electronic devices. A recent example is an optically induced ultrafast switching device based on the transition between the correlated Mott insulating state and a metallic state of a transition metal dichalcogenide 1T-TaS2. However, the electronic switching has been challenging and the nature of the transition has be...
متن کاملDoping nature of native defects in 1T-TiSe2.
The transition-metal dichalcogenide 1T-TiSe2 is a quasi-two-dimensional layered material with a charge density wave (CDW) transition temperature of T(CDW) ≈ 200 K. Self-doping effects for crystals grown at different temperatures introduce structural defects, modify the temperature-dependent resistivity, and strongly perturbate the CDW phase. Here, we study the structural and doping nature of su...
متن کاملStrain Engineering a 4a×√3a Charge Density Wave Phase in Transition Metal Dichalcogenide 1T-VSe2.
We report a rectangular charge density wave (CDW) phase in strained 1T-VSe2 thin films synthesized by molecular beam epitaxy on c-sapphire substrates. The observed CDW structure exhibits an unconventional rectangular 4a×√3a periodicity, as opposed to the previously reported hexagonal 4a×4a structure in bulk crystals and exfoliated thin layered samples. Tunneling spectroscopy shows a strong modu...
